COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT / CHARITIES
Part of the MES philosophy is an understanding that supporting charities and non-profit groups can not only help a business grow but, more importantly, it is a great way to give back to the community and help sustain causes that deserve public and private support.  We believe that getting involved in such community causes is a great business strategy for many reasons, not the least of which is the strong sense of well being that comes from contributing time and resources to causes that are greater than ourselves.  The following is a list of charities and non-profit groups with which MES has been involved:

• Water for People

  This non-profit international humanitarian organization helps people in developing countries improve their quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and health and hygiene education programs.  MES supports their vision of a world where all people have access to safe drinking water and sanitation and a world where no one suffers or dies from a water- or sanitation-related disease.  MES contributes to this organization and has been a regular sponsor of the Annual Arizona Water for People Golf Tournament (http://www.awpca.org/azwfp/index.html).
  
  
• Against Abuse Inc.

  Against Abuse, Inc. has provided social and behavioral health services in Pinal County, Arizona since 1981.  Against Abuse, Inc. is a private non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and the community to understand the nature and effects of family violence and the resources available to meet the needs of those abused.  In addition, the agency has taken a proactive role in providing a family focused, culturally sensitive continuum of prevention and intervention services to individuals and families in need of services.  In addition to its support for this organization, MES has been a sponsor of the annual Against Abuse Inc. Seeds of Change Gala (www.maricopaseedsofchange.org).
  
  
• Sheriff’s Santa

  Sheriff’s Santa is a charity founded by a Maricopa, Arizona business owner to benefit children 8 to 13 years old who come from families who often struggle to provide the bare essentials.  Deserving children are selected with the help of the Sheriff’s Deputies and school principals for a shopping spree at Wal-Mart.  Each child receives $750.00 and a uniformed Deputy to assist them in shopping.  Often times these selfless children purchase Christmas gifts for their entire family.  In addition to its support for this organization, MES has been a sponsor of the annual Sheriffs Santa's Charity Golf Tournament & Fundraiser (http://sheriffssantas.com/tournament.htm).
  
  
• Young Life

  Young Life is a non-denominational, Christian, non-profit organization targeting middle and high school kids with the goal of introducing them to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.  Young Life staff and leaders are caring adults who strive to build positive relationships with teenagers.  Young Life camping involves high adventure, lots of fun, great food and excellent speakers who understand and respect high school and middle school kids.  At Young Life's 20 camps in North and Central America, kids are treated to resort-quality facilities for which Young Life has become known.  In addition to supporting this organization, MES has provided pro-bono engineering services for water and wastewater facilities at Young Life’s Lost Canyon Camp in Williams, Arizona (http://sites.younglife.org/camps/LostCanyon/default.aspx).
  
  
• Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA

  The Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA helps the state's oldest and largest no-kill shelters provide a temporary home for nearly 2,000 dogs and cats every year, offering medical and behavioral treatment for those in need.  MES supports this worthy organization with an annual contribution (https://www.aawl.org/donate_on1.asp).
  
  
• Southwestern College

  Southwestern College in Phoenix, Arizona is local institute of higher learning that offers a Christian liberal arts education.  MES has supported Southwestern College with annual contribution and equipment donations (http://www.swcaz.edu/GivetoSouthwestern.aspx).
