BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY
McBride Engineering Solutions was founded on the idea of a distinctive business model for performing and managing water/wastewater engineering and construction services projects.  Unlike the traditional model for consulting firms in this industry, MES is organized and staffed to provide services that are solely and strictly solution-oriented.  As a result, MES has a uniquely efficient approach to water/wastewater project consulting and project management.

In an industry (water/wastewater infrastructure) where engineering services are often viewed as a commodity, it is difficult if not impossible to apply engineering principals in the most creative way to find the optimum solution with the big picture in mind.  Too often firms are forced to delegate the day-to-day engineering down to the least experienced engineers, with the more experienced engineers providing only periodic oversight and QA/QC.  However, MES has been able to avoid this increasingly inefficient approach by following a different philosophy with our project team.  This philosophy can be described in three key points:

1. We focus on solutions-oriented engineering with seasoned engineers: 
   1. We are generally top-heavy with experienced engineers that are self-sufficient in their projects.
   2. We only do the engineering that is necessary to solve the problem.
      (We realize that this point may sound like common sense, but in our experience very few firms take a strictly solutions-focused approach that is constantly looking to eliminate unnecessary steps.)
   3. We have PMs and experienced engineers do all the engineering, significantly decreasing project schedules, dramatically increasing QA/QC efficiency, and facilitating resource management.
2. We utilize specialty subconsultants and pre-engineered systems in our design projects:
   1. We focus on program/project management and the civil/mechanical and sanitary engineering portions of the design; for other areas such as HVAC, plumbing, structural, electrical, and instrumentation design we rely on subconsultants who specialize in these areas and therefore can do the design more efficiently than we could.
   2. We utilize pre-engineered systems wherever it is advantageous to the project, including pieces as small as hydropneumatic package systems to as large as full pre-engineered treatment process systems.
3. We minimize our overhead costs:
   1. We spend the bulk of our money on our people, not our offices and operating expenses; our clients are typically not impressed by pretentious office spaces and elaborate marketing events.
   2. We constantly look for ways to save overhead on projects, such as designing our drawings on large-text 11x17-inch drawing sheets (our “full-size”).
   3. We maximize the use of software and printing technology to increase efficiency.
   4. We consider the cost-benefit balance before any capital expenditure.
   5. Our marketing expenditures are a fraction of our competitors’.
